Weston Bible Week: STOP PRESS

Over many years, a small council of leaders has prayerfully worked to provide congregations in the area with Biblical teaching from national and international speakers.

Some of you reading this have faithfully supported these events and will hopefully agree that we have all been, I believe, blessed by God as a result. Members of the council have come and gone over time, but in recent times it has proved impossible to fill the gaps, to the point where, with only one member left, we have taken the decision to draw things to a close.

My own experience, as the surviving member, goes back to the mid 60’s with a marquee in Clarence Park, and my disappointment will doubtless match yours. Times, expectations and opportunities change over the years, as does God’s leading, and perhaps a different model is needed for current and future generations.

We do however thank you for your support. So we praise God for the impact that Bible Week has had since at least 1965. We also pray that the podcasts of past speakers, which will still be available on the website, will go on being an excellent resource to all who will listen.  To God be the Glory !

The small  balance of funds we have is being used to fund the website and podcasts for a further year with the rest donated to the Bible Society.

DANIEL - Seeking God & Pursuing Integrity - A talk and discussion led by Rev Canon Andy Perry

What happens when life takes an unexpected turn and you end up (metaphorically) in Babylon?

How can you then both survive well and thrive?

In the second of our Bible Week Plus events for 2017, we will be exploring how the Book of Daniel equips Christ-followers to stand 'Against the Flow' in a secular, relativistic culture, and inspire us more passionately to seek God and pursue integrity.

Introducing Andy ...

Andy has ministered in the Salisbury diocese since April 1995, when he became Vicar of St Mary’s Longfleet, Poole during this time the church community has grown from about 85 to 800. They are currently in the process of preparing to establish a new church plant.

He is also a non-residentiary Canon of Salisbury Cathedral and a member of the Bishop’s Council.

For a number of years, Andy and his wife Fi co-led one of the New Wine Summer Conference weeks, which welcomes about 12,000 delegates; he also oversees the New Wine networks along the South Coast.  He serves as a CPAS Patronage Trustee.  Andy is a champion of the leadership inspiration of Willow Creek, he and Fi attended the GLS in Chicago in 2014.

Andy is married to Fi, an Advanced Nurse Practitioner.  They have three grown up children - Ben (29), Will (27) and Olivia (25).  He enjoys a wide variety of sports, is a Bath Rugby Club fan (!), takes joy in exploring the Outdoors, and reading, particularly biographies.
